Treatment with Dutasteride is a pharmaceutical way to slow down hair loss.
Dutasteride is a drug that until recently was administered to patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia. However, it is now proven to be a very active substance in the “fight” against hair loss. Its action is similar to that of finasteride, although its action appears to be stronger because it inhibits the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone by inhibiting two different enzymes instead of one that finasteride inhibits.
Who can get this specific treatment?
This particular treatment can be taken by both men and women suffering from severe hair loss, which can lead to a high degree of thinning. However, its use by men is not recommended as it can lead to gynecomastia and a drop in libido. It is either administered by injection into the area showing thinning or taken orally in pill form. Women are given it after menopause.
